Painful writing & joyful memories
It is perhaps a little painful to wrote about Gregor. After all his decision to die is going to be difficult and always an open question until we depart ourselves. As I have explained to some of you during the ceremony, Gregor's decision was tolerated by me, but I did not agree fully with it. My personal believe was that he ought to have tried to continue to live. I have said that to him on the phone and have written to him about this. Given his young age and longs standing diabetes status he would have gad a good chance of a very fast transplant. Of course each operation is difficult and complications can arise but there are people in their 70s getting heart valves and other OPs...
I believe there was something in Gregor's character that closed down to life years ago. After he got out of the Bockcher Virus thing in the 1990s he already told me and probably you that he had only about 15 years. Gregor died almost punctually to that assessment.
Many of the greater decisions he took were perhaps in line with a sort of mental date, this includes the rejection of Laura and getting kids, as well as hi commitment perhaps to his later relationship to Judith and Charly. I wonder if on a subconscious level it was kind of an added bonus that as Gregor died he knew that neither Charly nor Judith would be totally left behind.
My discussions about his death have continued with many people even now. One of my friends who has diabetes as well has friends herself with advanced consequences of diabetes (blindness and kidney failure) state that it is in deed hard to see positively when one feels regularly slightly bad, and in view that transplants as well as dialysis have an expiration point.
We all still wonder if there could have been anything one couyld have said or tried to turn the tide, but we have to accept that a lot has been tried and said, and Gregor still made his own decision.
Gregor decided to die and not try anything against even medical advise of in medicine.
"You can show the horse the water but you can't make it drink, my father used to say"
So he left us, and with it many conversations many moments will remain unsaid and untried. What remains are good and what seems now very precious moments with somebody with a good heart, open mind (except to his own life), and sometimes momentary great pleasure to be with.

Just a few words as the new blog site now stands. It was created to help everybody who knew him to use and and complete it. In no way do I wish to dominate it or enforce my version of Gregor. This is for all of us who knew Gregor and should be run and edited by all of us.

After Gregor left Daniel and Claudia's flat of the time in Queen Elizabeth Road, he moved into the neighbourhood at Grayling Road, near Abbney Park Cemetary, Stoke Newington, London where he rented a room.
Tollington Park Tollington Park Road was his second location.
He shared a flat there with Bettina who may hopefully write more about the place.

Gregor's Verabschiedung
Die erste offizielle Verabschiedungsfeier fand am 10. April 2007 in der Trauerhalle des Krematorium's, Ostfriedhof statt.
Gregor's official farewell was celebrated on the 10th of April in Munich.
Auf der Einladung zur Beerdigung stand ein Spruch Michelangelo's

Ich weiss es nicht mehr genau, wann ich und Gregor uns kennenlernten. Es war wohl in der 4. oder 5. Klasse, so um 1979 oder 1980 rum. Gregor und ich lebten beide im Olympiadorf in der Strassbergerstrasse und endeten beide auch im Maximiliansgymnasium. Ganz klar ist aber dass wir beide ganz frueh anfingen Musik zu machen. Mit kleinen bongo Trommeln und mir am Klavier machten wir absurde Lieder im Wohnzimmer der Olympiadorf Wohnung Eva's.
Irgendwo laut Gregor gibt es eine Musikkassette die Zeuge ist dessen. Auf ihr befindet sich unter anderem ein Lied (oder Geschrei): "Ein Kranz fuer Kreisky. " Es wurde nach dem Tod von Oesterreichischen Kanzler Kreisky aufgenommen und war natuerlich Gregor's Idee. Laut Eva haben Gregor und ich auch oefters "Juden und Palaestinenser" gespielt... Gregor gefiel es mich ein bischen mit Palestina Issues zu aergern.
Das letzte mal einer "Begegnung war am 29 Maerz 2007. Ich schickte Gregor eine SMS nachdem ich ihn telefonisch nicht erreichen konnte. In ihr schrieb ich, dass ich mich entschuldige nicht frueher zu schreiben, weil Claudia fuer einen Monat sehr krank war und sich im Krankenhaus befand. Ich koenne, so schrieb ich, jetzt ihn endlich besuchen kommen. Gregor schrieb noch zurueck: "Zu spaet. Keine Kraft mehr. Bin fuer meine letzten Zuege in's Krankenhaus. Love Gregor." Meine Bitte nach dem Ort des Krankenhauses um sofort nach Deutschland zu kommen wurde nicht mehr erwiedert.
Dazwischen sind viele Geschichten, die ich nach und nach hier bei Zeit hinterlassen moechte. Da ich zwischen 1985 ind 1989 und ab 1991 ausserhalb Deutschland's wohnte sahen wir uns erst in London wieder mehr, obwohl ich ihn bei jedem Besuch in Muenchen traf. Ich bin auch Zeuge der Boeckcher Virus Jahre 1990/91, wo ich Gregor regelmaessig und mehrere Male in der Woche besuchte (es war ja nun nur 5 minuten von meinem Apartment)...
